I receive calls all day from people asking for deals for all device repairs (Samsung, iPhone, iPad, LG, etc). based on other shops quoting very cheap prices or Groupon ads (Night Market, Crystal Mall, Kiosks, Surrey, etc.). My response is that these places are bottom of the barrel and use knock off parts which will fall apart. (Reputable shops use original (OEM) parts which are more expensive, fit properly with the phone, and last).
I’ve had people drop off their phones at these places and then get a call saying their phone is dead – the repair shop breaks the phone (due to inexperience or other reasons) and then the customer is out of a previously working phone. When they come to me, I see damage to their phone/parts missing (some shops remove parts so you’ll have to come back for more repairs) and have seen these situations on countless occasions.
I always tell people to research and use Google/Yelp to find the best shops based on their reviews over a long period and who is doing the reviews – if they’re all within a month and/or from other countries (i.e. India), chances are they are paid reviews.
There are only a few good honest places. Prices are standard for a legit repair – you get what you pay for – it’s like going to a bad dentist I always say. Customers always come back to a place who treats their phone as they would their own – repairs done properly and with warranty.
